John 3:16

John 3:16

Sometimes I think because John 3:16 is a verse we learn so young and we can spout it off at a moment’s notice, we forget it’s significance. Well, tonight God reminded me of the beauty of :”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

After church tonight, I was able to talk to a young girl named Claudia. My job couldn’t have been any easier, she was more than ready to accept Christ! She has been coming to church fairly regulary with her sister Regina (who I was able to lead to the Lord a few months ago) and decided tonight that she was ready to make a decision. Praise the Lord! It is always exhilarating to lead someone to Christ, but with her, it was especially exciting. Immediately after praying, she began to tell me about her boyfriend and how she was ready to put God first in her life instead of him. She apparently had already spoken to him and told him she was not willing to give up going to church and that he was the one missing out. Wow… It is wonderful to see someone so on fire!

I am so thankful to be reminded of why we are here….Please pray for Claudia as she grows in the Lord and also for the salvation of her boyfriend, Walter.

Almost Christmas!

Almost Christmas!

I must admit listening to Christmas music in the car with the windows down and 75 degree weather is still a little strange to me…but that is Christmas-time on the other side of the equator. This year we will actually be traveling north to spend the holidays with family. I am so very excited! But at the same time a little sad…We have spent the last two Christmases here in Arequipa, Peru and I love some of the traditions and customs that we have been able to participate in. Christmas Eve we usually spend with friends staying up until midnight, eating Paneton (Peruvian fruitcake) and drinking hot chocolate. And then there are the fireworks (used to celebrate everything here, from independence day to a baby being born). So we all climb up onto the roof at midnight and let ‘em fly (I think this is Jeremy’s favorite part:) The next morning we spend as  family, watching the kids open their presents, which is going to be especially exciting this year, now that they will actually enjoy them!

But before our lovely 36-hour trip to the States with 3 kids under the age of 3…there is still a lot of work to be done!

Thursday: lots of baking for 20 Christmas plates to give away

Friday: Christmas Dinner for the leaders of Omega at our house

Saturday: Ladies Christmas Party at Omega

Sunday: Our last Sunday in Omega for the next 5 weeks:(

Monday: Packing and last minute Christmas shopping

Tuesday:  Heading to Lima!

I would very much appreciate your prayers over the next few days…Merry Christmas!

Discipleship

Discipleship

I must admit I am still learning what discipleship is. Sad, I know, after having been a missionary for almost 3 years, saved for 9 years, and living in a christian home for my ENTIRE life. The other day I had some girls over to the house, we painted our nails (which Olivia loved being a part of:), ate cookies (every good get-together involves food,) but most importantly we talked about God and the Bible. Yadira had a lot of questions, maybe questions that seem a little silly to us, but for her they are things she is confronting in her conversations with other people ABOUT GOD (I praise the Lord she is talking about Him with others!) We talked about speaking in tongues, if guardian angels exist, we talked about Satan and hell, and dating (funny how all those subjects came up in one night). The point is we were doing things together, but also learning about God.
I think if we really read our Bibles and care about mimicking the way Jesus ministered, we will notice that He spent time with people. He and His disciples walked from city to city together, they ate together, they worked together. And all the while, He was teaching them, preparing them to teach others. And you know what? Jesus, with those twelve, evangelized the WHOLE world. If each one of us could have our twelve and teach them how to disciple twelve more, and so on….the whole world could be evangelized in our time too! This is why we are here.
Yes, it takes time and patience and money, but mostly it takes love. Love for others, but even more than that, love for Christ.
I really think that I should have addressed this at the top: “Dear Bekah,” because I am really talking to myself. This is something that I struggle with daily, being open with people, starting conversations, opening up my life to them. But how can I not share Christ after all He has done for me?

Well, I don’t think all my blogs will be so “preachy.”:) Just something I was thinking about today. I do have one prayer request as well. Tonight will be the first showing of our drama “Revelation.” I think most everyone knows what it is, but for those who don’t…For the next three weekends we will being having a walk-through drama about end time events. This will be the second year we have done it, and we are praying for 5,000 to come through this year. But more than that, please pray that the Lord will speak to hearts. Each person who goes through will be given a gospel presentation and we are praying to see many people come to know Christ as their Savior!
I will let you all know how it goes! Thanks for reading…..

Trying Something New…

Trying Something New…

Well, I was recently reading a random blog (no one I know personally, don’t worry:), critiquing it mentally, and decided that maybe instead of critiquing, I should just start my own. So I am trying something new. I hope that it will be benificial to someone, somewhere.

For those of you who don’t know me…My name is Rebekah Hall. I am married to Jeremy Hall, the most wonderful, amazing, godly, handsome man in the world. We have three beautiful children: Brayden and Olivia (2 year-old twins) and Jackson (1 year). YES, we believe in living adventeroulsy and doing things quickly. We are currently serving the Lord in Arequipa, Perú, South America. We get to tell people about Jesus for a living…I love my life!

So, more (hopefully interesting) things to come very soon…thanks for reading!
